We took our son out of his previous daycare, as we felt that he wasn't getting the attention that a 3 year old should be getting. He was in a room with 23 other children. When we heard that a teacher, who used to work at the same daycare, was leaving and going to be working for BFHC, we decided to put our son with her.

He has been with her since 6th July 09, and our carer who looks after him so just awesome. She has no more than 4 childen. When our son first started with her, he had a couple of behaviour problems, that he picked up from the previous daycare, which all but one wee thing has gone. He was a late talker, we'd say that when he started with her, he was between 9 months & 1 year behind in his speech, now 2 1/2 months later, he would be about 6 months behind with his speech.

Our son is not a "Special Needs" child, but does need to be in an environment where there is less teacher to child ratio, and needs to have a routine. He has got both, and in our eyes, this is great and a win win situation. Both my husband & myself wonder why we didn't put him in a Home Based Child Care when I returned to work from maternity leave.

Over the last month, friends & family have been commenting on his behaviour & speech, just how well he is doing, and that he is a different child!!

I have recommended BFHC to a couple of friends, and I know one of them have signed up.

Keep up the excellent work BFHC. (Erin)

After working in homebased childcare on & off for 8 yrs I was starting to think that maybe it was time a career change but after seeing the ad for BFHC in the local newspaper I thought maybe just a company change was what I needed.

Petra and her team are so supportive and friendly. Even the odd text in the weekend always gets a friendly answer or phone call. It's a great feeling to know that we have 24/7 support not just 9-5 Monday to Friday. They always listen and are greatful for any idea's that we come up with and always ask for our input with idea's they have. They organise excursions for us once a term which are always heaps of fun for the children. Having weekly playgroup is a great way for us as carers to get together for a chat and also for the children to build other friendships.

Being a carer/educator would have to be the best job I have ever done and with 2 other children it fit's around them. I am always home to see my oldest off to school and there when she gets home. I have also been able to stay home with my youngest and be there for all his first's and now he goes to another carer/educator 2 days a week and he loves it. With the 1- 4 ratio he still the gets 1 on 1 attention he gets at home. I would highly recommend homebased care for anyone with young children. It's a great way to earn a good income without missing out on your children growing up. (Nikki)

My oldest son turns six tomorrow. He started at homebased childcare when he was 11 months and continued up until the time he went to school last April. Treasures magazine and our local parents centre have had articles and evenings to discuss the different types of care available and this has enlightened many people. My son had his 6 year old assessment done. I was called in when I picked him up and was told that he had got the highest score the teacher had ever seen in all her years of assessing. His reading is that of a nine year old. (Abridged) (Audrey)
